Only a few months before leaving Okinawa, we discovered a new cafe that had a lot of character and pizzazz despite it's former base housing outer shell. Niwa Cafe is in great company since it's just around the corner from Rurriiro Restaurant and Soupcon and has the food and environment to keep you coming back!
We went to Niwa a few times and it always seemed to be for a special occasion -- someone's birthday or a going away party. Either way, my time spent at this cafe was always special! Maco, the owner, was always so friendly and welcoming making the memories that I made there even better.
They have special events throughout the months -- yoga, musicians, craft fairs -- all fun stuff! Niwa definitely has a way of making itself stand out from the pack.
The food? Well, the food is delicious! The croque-monsieur is both filling and flavorful, the chicken is amazeballs, and their homemade pies are yummy. I can't really say that I've had anything bad from Niwa so my recommendations are plentiful!
They have a small play area for children, too. I don't have kids so we never took advantage of this, but I always recommended it to my friends with toddlers that were looking to have some mommy-dates!
So, whether your looking for a place to celebrate a birthday or just trying to get together with a few friends, I recommend you try this restaurant. Keep in mind that space is limited so if you're going to have a big party (over 4), I'd strongly recommend making a reservation.
Oh, and when you go, be sure to give my love to the Niwa family!
