If you know me, you know that I love to pick fresh, seasonal fruit! It's one of my favorite activities when the seasons change - strawberries, blueberries, apples, etc - I love it all! Here in North Carolina, it's strawberry pickin' time so I invited my friend, Alisha, and we headed to Mike's Farm.
Naturally, the little nugget had to dress for the occasion and looked super cute in her strawberry onesie. I tried to put her in the structured carrier that I have, but she's still just a bit too small. I couldn't really navigate bending and picking berries while she was in the fabric carrier, so we stuck with the car seat/stroller combo. She chilled out and enjoyed the fresh air while Alisha, little E, and I filled our buckets!
This was E's first time picking berries and she did great! My favorite part was when she was helping me pick mine by holding my bucket. After a few minutes, I looked over and she was sitting in the dirt and eating one bite out of lots of strawberries before putting them back in my bucket. Silly little lady!
The patch wasn't too busy, which was really nice! Mike's Farm's system is navigating you to a small area of the patch that is marked with red flags and letting you pick until your hearts content within that area. I think this stops people from picking strawberries that aren't quite ready yet and allowing you to pick the ones that are super ripe before they go bad. Regardless, there was more than enough for us!
It was a fun afternoon and I look forward to many more adventures like this one! Be sure to call if you're heading to the patch. Their hours change based on the weather and day.
